Happenings

Joining in with Annie to share some of my own Happenings.

Looking at the jars of pickled garlic scapes and jalapeño raspberry jam (trust me, it tastes great!) sitting on my counter.

Smelling the fresh morning air, with hints of forest and garden and flowers and a recent rain all mixed together.

Waiting impatiently for my raspberry shrub to be ready to drink.

Anticipating a weekend with nothing on the calendar.

Knitting a wee baby kimono.

Reading Black House by Peter May and The Shepherd's Life by James Rebanks.

Making a batch of kale and pistachio pesto.

Eating the first raspberries and cherries of the season.

Watching ITV's Home Fires series on my Slingplayer.

Missing this little girl after a short trip over to Victoria to see her earlier this week.

How about you? Do you have any Happenings you would like to share?

  2. What a lovely post, it sounds like a very natural life with lots of homemade/homegrown things, wonderful. Nothing on the calendar here either for tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get out for a walk somewhere nice. Enjoy the rest of the weekend Kristie. CJ xx

  3. Happy happenings indeed. A surprise hour in the hammock in warm sunshine today (forecast wasn't good) was a happy happening here! The simple things are the best.

  4. That sounds like a very fulfilling week. I'm going to try the shrub using mulberries...
A friend is sending me the Rebanks book...she says it is wonderful.

  5. I like a Happenings List so much better than a To Do List!

  6. Enjoying a summer afternoon on the screened porch!

I really like your new banner, especially the teapot. I'm afraid I would have been tempted to take that one home with me, in your shoes (assuming you found it with the other "wild" teapots?). -- Ruth

  8. I'm recovering from going to Dublin for a big family wedding. Lots of good memories, not so good food choices, and two nightmarish airport check-in experiences!

  9. What a nice list of happies, Kristie, and I love your new heading. Cute teapot, and I do love the Hudson Bay blanket. We found the shop at the Vancouver airport which sells all things in this design. So overwhelmed, I bought nothing! I like the sound of the raspberries and cherries, and looking at cute little Lucy, in her sweet knit by Granma, awwwww :)

  10. Lovely happenings, the little card is just so cute ( and your little granddaughter of course) I listened to The Sheperds Life on the radio a few weeks ago, really enjoyed it.

  11. What a lovely and productive week you've had. Thanks for the link to the kale and pistachio pesto recipe. I got a box of veggies at the Local Harvest market yesterday, and wasn't sure what to do with the kale. But we love pesto!

  14. Well you just led me down a rabbit hole of links! that jam sounds right up my alley...still have some raspberries in the freezer at home so maybe this winter, I'll make up a batch and see if it replaces my all-time favorite (strawberry balsamic black pepper jam)! Is this the first time you have pickled garlic scapes? Have never heard of doing that with them but I'm all for picking everything!

Happenings for me...treating a sick 'bou kid (she's healthy again now), working, reading, knitting, photographing, and walking when the roads/fields aren't a mess after much needed rain. a couple more weeks of this and then i head to the bush where life gets crazy again!

  21. There's rather too much happening here just now, hence it taking ne nearly a week to get to this post.
