Home Again

Before I get to the topic of today's post I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughtful comments on my last post about the failed sweater. There is much more that I would like to say about it, so will come back to it next time. Also, you might be wondering where I have been as I don't usually let so much time pass between posts. Several wonderful days have been spent in Victoria meeting my new grandson, and the rest of the time I have been immersed in a project. More on the project in the next post, and for now, on to Oliver.

There is something so incredibly special and delightful about a newborn baby - the tender skin, the soft hair, the way they snuggle in as you hold them, and perhaps most of all that realization that this is just a little sliver of time in their life. If you blink your eyes a few times they are suddenly toddlers, wanting to play doctor and have all their fingers covered in bandages.

Those little legs and arms grow bigger at an amazing rate.

And before you know it instead of being stretched out in a bassinet they are lying on the beach making a sand angel.

Newborns have a special way of tugging at your heart.

But then again, so do toddlers.

Have a great week!

  3. They look so wonderful and full of the joy of life! We got to spend Sunday afternoon with our two grandchildren, helping out with Hazel's birthday party in the park. I had forgotten how much fun a balloon can be.

  10. Hello Kristie!!
Well, to spend time with grandchildren seem to be time well spent. I know I keep saying that I don't put pictures with people in my posts, and I don't because I have don't have that kind of blog. You share your life and family with us and that's totally different, the pictures comes in natural and everybody feels good about it. The pictures you take are adorable, little Oliver will soon be making sandcakes and play doctor, but for now on, this is a blessed time.
I am wondering about the word "toddler". Some of my welleducated friends use it and since you are an author and everything, perhaps you could bring some light into it.
Thank you for sharing babies and infants and the emotional stories to go with it. My oldest daughter is only seventeen and I'll be retired before grandchildren comes my way!!
    So, Congratulations!!!

  15. He's adorable! And the sweater you made looks great on him. And he looks so much older than a few weeks! How is big sister with him? I only have a couple weeks until Olivia gets her little brother.

  19. Hey Kristie,
Such a lovely post. Such gorgeous children. There has been a spate of Mums having babies at Olly's school. I have lost my heart to little Alannah. Tiny, a riot of hair and dressed in pink.
